Purpose of CAD Standards

Customers that provide CAD information in a clear and understandable format will enable Sheldahl to:

Quote accurately and quickly

Minimize data conversion problems

Fabricate prototype and pre-production parts quickly

Ideal Formatting

Prints will contain:

Manufacturing specs

Cross-sectional views of lay-up configuration

Company name

Part number

Contact and phone number

Detail drawing showing dimensions

Primary acceptable file formats include:

Prints and specs . . AutoCAD DXF or ASCII

Part data. . . . . . . . RS274X

Drill data. . . . . . . . RS274X or any excellon format

Secondary acceptable file formats include:

Gerber RS-274G, Any Gerber data with Aperture List

Establishing a universal format that Sheldahl engineers and customers can understand reduces confusion. The following layer convention is suggested for AutoCAD DXF files.
